Ancient Lapta

Ancient Lapta

Welcome to Lapta:

Lapithos is the name of a small town which is also known as Lapta in the Turkish language. This village is located in Cyprus. This city is De facto under the control of northern Cyprus. De facto refers to the facts and practices which are applicable and exist in real life. But these practices are not officially recognized by the law and government of this particular state. This practice refers to the acts which occur in real life. In contrast to the acts which should be done under the law and constitution of the particular country and is known and de jury.

History of Lapta:

This region had a population of about 7,839 according to the older census. However, with the passage of time, this population might have increased. Yet this village cannot be classified as a city due to the smaller size and area covered by this village. According to most historians, the place was raided by the Spartans and built mostly by them in their time period.

Lapta can also be called a shaggier and elaborate version of the city of Alsancak due to the number of things found here. Such as the scarce community which is dispersed over the canyon and divided from each other by the ridges in these hills. This area was least damaged in the 1995 fire. Hence in order to assume how Kyrenia might have looked before the time period of 1995. This is the only chance to see their culture and way of living. One can see a number of original things here. Such as the buildings and artifacts which are now displayed in the museums.

After the great of 1995 on the island, a number of settlers moved here. Due to the abundant supply of water in all the regions and lesser damage caused to the area by such a disaster. Hence removing the fear of damage from such a disaster in the future.

Some Interesting Facts:

This region was quite famous during older times due to a number of things. These things being the silk products made from the raw silk being produced here. Carved chests, potters and the water-powered corn mills are few examples. Due to the abundant supply of water here by the irrigation systems present in the region. Another most shocking thing about the area is a person also known by the tourists and islanders by the name “Snake Charmer”. This individual lived with hundreds of snakes and most of them being the most deadly and poisonous.

The Community of Lapta:

This individual not only lived with them but was somehow able to neutralize the venomous effect of a number of snaked living with him. Thus removing the chances of these snakes biting the person himself. This person only appeared on TV once. In order to demonstrate his art and skills to the outside world during the time period in the 1980s. However, this individual was often visited by a number of tourists at that time to see the marvel in human form.

Lapta was largely a bi-communal village. This fact was proven with a pair of mosques and around 7 churches found here. These nine buildings reflect nine different districts here in the past. With the area largely being occupied by the Muslims and Christians. These buildings were however largely damaged by the movements in the year 1964-1964. That caused the Greek Cypriots to leave the area and settle in the adjacent areas. Hence the formal glory cannot be observed by the tourists in these areas.

Restaurants:

Lapta is much more of the developed village then the adjacent areas. This development of the area can be seen on the coastline. Which supports a number of resorts, hotels, and restaurants for the individuals visiting this particular area. One of the drawbacks of the area is that these restaurants and resorts are majorly being used for gambling purposes. As in casinos and the prostitution process being carried out here in large numbers. Hence the area is not recommended for conventional tourism. Especially the region containing the hotels named “Celebrity Complex”, “Club Lapithos” and “LA hotel” have been tattier and neon lately for the purposes of gambling and prostitution.

Aphrodite Antique Houses:

Aphrodite Antique houses is a restaurant located in Upper Lapta which offers more of a decent living place for families and tourists finding a calm location to spend a night and have a pleasant time. These restaurants offer the best services and have the most comfortable furniture for the tourists to remove all their fatigue after a long day of traveling. These units vary in their capacity from two to six individuals resorts and charges the individuals from 130-350  per resort depending upon the number of individuals as well as the time period of the year when the resort is being used.

A number of local restaurants were closed due to the least number of tourism in the area, leaving the only option of fine dining in the restaurant named Baspinar (Head Spring). This restaurant is located under a number of palm trees in the village, where the fountain water emerges from a tunnel providing a beautiful scenic beauty. The restaurant provides individuals with the most affordable food in just 6 per person.
